DUKE INTERPRETER.

For Labour Premier. Berlin, April 4. The Duke of Windsor acted as interpreter for the Labour Premier of Victoria, Mr A. A. Dunstan, while he was at the reception given in Vienna in His Royal Highness’s honour by the President of Austria, Dr Miklas. At the reception Mr Dunstan met the Austrian Chancellor, Dr Schuschnigg, who impressed the Victorian Premier as a man of outstanding strength and determination. Dr Schuschnigg wanted to have a conversation with Mr Dunstan, but he did not speak English. The Duke of Windsor, therefore, promptly filled the role of interpreter, leading Mr Dunstan to remark that no one could have done the job better, 'ln his journey so far through six countries of Europe, Mr Dunstan has been amused by some of the primitive methods of agriculture. He has seen a single-furrow plough drawn by an ox, but noted that the peasants were so well versed in fertilisers that the yield from their land was surprising.
