| CHOSTIAKOFF RECITAL I ———— ' Ryan-Chostiakoff Farewell Concert. The Town Hall was I1T?J to capacity on Sa'urday f./r the Rjan- | Chostiakoff farewell concert. Ak though the programme was very similar to tha*t given in January, the items were well received- and the applause indicated that the familiar songs had lost none of (their appeal. Vincent Ryan, with song and story, kept his audience in a continual stale of merriment. In his characteristic, energetic fashion, he led community singing, and an excellent response was made by the erod’d-. Senia Chostiakoff’s lighter numbers ; included “Trees” and “Because,” and these were enihusiasitically received. He also included several Irish and Scottish songs. Probably he was heard to best advantage in the xtus sian traditional number, “Songs of he Volga Boatman.” Another very I pleasing item was the “Miserere,” from “11 Trovalore,” with piano-ac-cordeon accompaniment. Besides playing accompaniments, Ossie Cheeseman contributed pianoforte solos and' also gave items on the piano-accordeon. His tour round the world, a selection of th-? natural airs of each country, was immensely popular.
