ELECTION OF SURGEONS Expert Advisers Disregarded. Press Association-Copyright. Auckland, April 9. Criticism that the recent elec, lorn. 1 tor senior and assistant honorary surgeons to the Auckland Hospi.al were unfairly conducted and that the Hospital Board showed absolute disregard of its expert advisers is made by Dr. Frank Macky, chairman of the honorary staff, in a statement he has made otj Behalf of the whole staff. Dr. Macky said that staiements that had been made auout the position. were definitely misleading in .lie material points. “The direct result of these elections Is that three members of the senior surgical staff have been dismissed without any reason and replaced by men with inferior experience and shorter service to the hospital,” said Dr. Macky. Subsequently this selection was unanimously approved by a fuller meeting of the board, to the surprise and disquiet of medical men engaged in the o.'ork of tlife hospital and of those engaged in general practice in the city. "It is patent," said Dr. Macky, “that individual members of the board never considered seriously the recommendations of twp expert committees, both of whom had brought forward reports at the request of the board and, let it be no-ed, these two reports were identical. The action of the board clearly shows absolute disregard of its expert advisers and of i.s own committees.”
