INFANTILE PARALYSIS.
NEW CASE AT HASTINGS. Schools To Remain Closed. Press Association —.Copyright. Hastings, April 10. A ftwUier Hastings case of infantile paralysis has been admitted to. the Napier hospital, this being the second within twenty-four hours after a break of over ten days, during which no cases iw'ere reported. The latest victim is a 14-year-old girl, a pupil of Hastings Central School. Following this Information, the chairman of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, Mr. G. A. Madditon, announced that the four State primary schools, the Convent School, and the High School in Hastings, would not reopen on Monday. Mr. Maddison said he had been advised; to this effect by the Department of Health, but added that all other schools in Napier and districts contiguous to Hastings and Napier would reopen on Monday as previously arranged. In the meantime no date for the reopening of Hastings schools had been fixed, and restrictions placed upon children under 16 years of age v.'ltli regard to theatres and other gatherings would remain in force. It is three weeks on Monday next since schools in Hastings and, i.uri rounding district were closed, and just, over two week since schools in the Napier district were shut down.
