UNION MEETING. Requests For Representative Matches. The Taranaki Rugby Union management committee met at Btratford last night, Hen J. McLeod (chairman) presiding. A match with Taranaki sit New Plymouth on Wednesday, September 1, was included' in its tentati re itinerary for a Nor h Island tour, -advised the North Otago un'on. The matter Hill be disousned by Hon. J. McLeod with the North Otago delegate to the annual conference of the New Zealandi union at Wellington. Referees' expenses should be actual expens.es where conveyanec was available and 6d a mile one way, wi h £1 maximum, where it was not, was a recommendation by the Tarmaki Rugby Referees’ Association. The charge was reasonable, said Mr McLeod. The only trouble in the past had been caused by referees being sent long distances to jynior matches where there were only small gates. The recommendation was adopted. A donation was requested for tho St. John Atnbulance Brigade. There were divisions at JlaiWera, Stratford, Inglewood', Waitara and New I’lymouh, stated a letter from the ilistrict office. The secretary was instructed to obtain information whether any donation should be sent lo the district office or to the divisions. Meetings at Stratford. There was always applause for good line kick ing, said Mr. J S. Hickey. All senior clubs should be asked to furnish programmes for home ; matches; suggested the Star club. It was recalled that the Taranaki union had imposed a penalty of five years’ disqualification which was increased to lite disqualification by the New Zea. lanui union, which also declared Roebuck from boiling any office in a Rugby organisation. A visit to Gisborne by a Taranaki team was requested by the Poverty Bay union, which suggested that delegates of tihe two unions confer at the annual conference at Wellington. It was pointed out that Poverty Bay had not returned Taran-aki’s i last visit. Taranaki was faced with a I visit to Hawke’s Bay this year and i members did not think the request 1 could be granted. I The union will not allot a cup for ithe annual game between Tainui subunion and the coastal representative team, it was decided. Reinstatements from senior to first junior were granted as follow's: H. G. Longstaff (Athletic to Urenui), W. Alexander, W. Ludlam, A. Jensen j (Stratford United Old Boys to Mid.hirst), A. Bullot (Star), B. H. Smith j (Star to Urenui), j Mr. W. A. Guy was appointed as l union representative on the Taranaki | representative selection committee.
