June 9, instead of on tile adual date, December 14, ac cording to a statement made by the Minister of Intel nal Affairs, Hon. W. E. Parry, :.o-day. The decision <ra-l been come to in accordance with what was taking place in England this year, said the Minister. The inroiuct’on of legislation ner.t session wout-i be neces sary to readjust matters in view of thjaltered date under the Public Holidays Act, 1910, land various awards operating.
To celebrate the Sovereign’s birth day on December 14, within a fortnight of Christmas, added Mr. Parry, was not desired either by the busi ness community or by the workers benefiting from the holiday.
