WEEK-END RACING.
AWAPUNI OPENS FRIDAY. Review of the Fields. (BY “ODDS ON.") The Manawatln Racing Club’s meeting opens on Friday with large fields of acceptors. Most races provide wide fields of selections, t-’obably supplying dividends, when the single pool system of wagering will be in operation. Manawatu is about ready but perhaps Beau Gallante and Hunting Queen may be better prospects. Sport'ing Song and Bazaine are both fit and may also carry considerable Support, whilst Count Willonyx and Royal Mimic are not chanceless. Those securing places may be BEAU GALLANTE. HUNTING QUEEN. COUNT WILLONYX. * * * Autumn Plate, of £120; seven furlong.?.—Black Fox, Galteemore, Gay Ruby, Glenthawn. Golden Enterprise, Gay Laddo Kourarua, Lactose, Naughty Marietta, Puroto. Relative, River Feale, Rahotahi—all 8.7. Naughty Marietta has shown marked abili y around, Taranaki meetings and looks a distinctly good prospect here. Puroto should be well suited and a recent second placing in a highweight is suggestive of a place. Glenthawn also, is dangerous and Golden Enterprise another possibility. Black Fox, Galteemore and Gay Ruby also will carry fair support. relative is an interesting entrant who has been finishing on in six furlong events and her connections in placing her here must have expectations. Onewhetu has been knocking but hie weight appears more than hi) placings dfemand. Pukeko on Hop form is a good prospect and Big Dook is due here. Master Cyklon las reached his apparent weight-cai lying ability. Arctic King and Gay Boy ,are very likely ones but greater appeal comes from Korero with only eight, stone. cred able “o win. Girl Pat mry stage something expected of hr, to -secui'e second .berth. Black Thread always considered good, also won at Feilding and wi ll Great Hope and Lady Ina strongly appeals. Hunting Mars, Severe and- Land Tax are likely whilst Peter Beckford; has no recent form for guidance. The result may be PAKANUI. BEN BRAGGIE. GREAT HOPE. * * * Te Matai Hack Handicap, of £150; one mile and a furlong 8.10, Sanhedrin 8.7, Maestro 8.6, Lady Siegfried 8.2, Earl Colossus 7.13, Tail Light 7.13, Myriam -7.13, Corroboree 7.9, Happing Hunting 7.9, Te Broney 7.7, Cloudy Bay 7.7, Missal 7.7, Seyfried 7.7, Racecall 7.7, Agog 7.7.
