It is revealed that the patrol boat Larrakia, which warned off 'the seventeen Japanese luggers, had to fire several bursts from its machinegun to stop six luggers v< < hich were attempting to escape. The crew of the Larrakia were examining eleven luggers, when six others appeared. Immediately tney sighted the Da-rrakia they attempted to escape to the open tea, bujt the greater speed of the patrol resulted in their overhaul. The master of the Larrakia explained to the Japanese captains the Australian law against landings on the coastline.
