Between December 1 last and March 29 there were :!59 eases of infantile paralysis in New Zealand, according to figures supplied by the head office of the Department of He-ltli Deaths numbered 19. Details of notifications received from various districts in each week since the outbreak of the epidemic are as follows, the first figure referring to the number o£ eases and the other, whefre it occurs,, to the deaths.: —■ December 7: Otago, 2. The Gore primary school has been closed until April 19, , a . pll p u , a g i rl 12 years of age, having been admitted to hospital with infantile paralysis diagnosed as a positive case. Her brother, nine years old, vtas also admitted to hospital as a suspect. These are the first cases in the district for a considerable time.
A young girl front Foxton admitted ot the Palmerston North hospital on Wednesday night brings the numbeof paralysis, cases in the Manawatu district to seven.
