WOMEN SHOPLIFTERS
Two Sent to Gaol at Auckland Press Association —'Copyright. Auckland, March 31. Two women shoplifters wore sent to giaol for ten days by Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M.. when they appeared' before him in the Police Court to-day. They were Mrs. Rita Ellen Ryan, iged 29, and Mrs. Mary Ann Johnson, aged 33, and they pleaded guilty to he theft of goods valued at £l2 from 11 shops at Auckland on the morning of March 23. “This claiss of offsnee seems to be becoming Common again,” said the Magistrate in sentencing the accused. “It is my duty to inflict a sentence that will act in some 'Way as a deterrent.” A wide assortment of articles was stolen by the two women.
