Preliminary railway returns for 1936 show that gross receipts from railway wdrklng during the year amounted to approximately £164,000,000. Nett revenue from all tources was approx! mately £36,510,000, compared v,sth £32,700,000 in 1935. and £B2 300,000 in 1934. The approximate number of pas-, senger joumeys was 1,256,639,000, compared l with 1,231.157,433 in 1936, and 1,119,961.976 in 1934. The tonnage of goods and mineral traffic conveyed was approximately 280,798,000, compared with 270,877,672 in 1935, and 270,020,828 in 1934.
