INSURGENTS ON THE RUN

GOVERNMENT FORCES’ VICTORIES. FLARE UP ON THE CORDOVA FRONT MANY KILLED IN AIR RAIDS ON MADRID. (Press Association——Copyright.) Received 10.5 a.m. LONDON, March 31. The Spanish war is flaring up on the Cordova (Andalusia) front, where the Government forces claim to have the insurgents on the run. Government forces occupied Vilanueva, besides Alcaracejos, thus securing two posts of the utmost strategic importance in the advance towards Cordova. Vilanueva was subjected to repeated intense attacks, which appear to have taken the insurgents by surprise. They are retreating precipitately, leaving over 100, who have been taken prisoner, including Italians and much war material. There were three air raids on Madrid during the night, and many were killed. There is great indignation in maritime circles. The French boat Cap Falcon reported that she was fired on by an insurgent warship off Santander, although flying the French flag, and the colours being clearly painted on the bridge.
