Mr. Percy Thomson left by the express this morning for Wellington, where he will represent the Egmont National Park Board at a conference called to discuss forest, preservation. Mr. A. Palairet, of the staff of the Union Bank 1 of Australia at Stratford, left this morning on transfer to Dannevirke. His place is being taken by Mr. L. M.| Hood, of Pahiatua. Mr. G. H. Dolby has retired from the service of the Taranaki Herald after 22 years as sub-editor and five years as editor. Mr. A. B. Scanlan has been appointed editor. Sir Walter Cariicross, Speaker of the Legislative Council, and the Dominion’s oldest Parliamentarian celebrated his 82wi birthday at Eltham last week.
