RAIN SPOILS SPORT. Owing to heavy rain on Saturday, the Petrie Shield junior ttnnis competitions and a progressive bowling contest were postponed. A cricket match between Stratford Technical High School and Taumarunui was. not completed. CYCLING SUCCESSES. Competing in the half-mile cycling race at the annual gathering of the Whangamomona Sports Club on Saturday, P. Wisnewski (Stratford) v-'as first and L. Pittams (Wharehuia) was second. In the one mile event they finished in the same order. FIRE BRIGADE CONTEST. At Elthum yesterday a Patea team won the unnual dire brigade contest for the Crabtree Shit Id in 51 seconds. New Plymouth, 51 2-ss, was second, and Eltham, 51 3-5 s, was third. In a sweepstake competition Patea was the winner, Stratford being second.

TROTTER UNWORTHY. The trotter Unworthy, which paid over a “three-century” dividend at Hawera yesterday, was well-known to patrons of the Stratford A. and P. shov’s. Owned by Mr C. Osborne, and trained by Mr Ri J. Laird, of Midhirst, Unworthy has frequently competed in trotting events at the shows, land at times the showgrounds were used for training purposes.
