CHRISTCHURCH FIRE

Extensive Damage Caused. ■ Press Association—Copyright. ijPhristchurch, March 26. A serious fire broke out in the premises of Millers, Ltd., clothing manufacturers and retailers, at the corner of Lichfield Street and High Street, 15 minutes after the city shops had closed on Thursday evening, destroying or damaging stock and plant of an estimated value of about £{lo,ooo, and causing damage to the building estimated at about £lOOO. The outbreak began in a workroom on the top storey, and although structural damage to the building was not extensive the stock and plant suffered heavily. Apiart from vliat was damaged by fire, a large quantity of goods on the two lower floors was affected by water. The proprietor, Mr L. B. Miller, was' In the building when the \irigade arrived. The cause of ,the outbreak is unknown.
