’PLANE CRASHES
Dunedin Pilot Killed. Press Association—Copyright. Dunedin, March 26. The Otago Aero Club's De Haviland Gipsy Moth plane ZK-ACI crashed in a paddock near Wylie's Crossing, Tairi Plains, about 4 p.m. yesterday, the pilot receiving injuries’ which must ‘lave caused instant death. The victim of the crash Was Errol Warrington Colvin, a member of the club, aged 22. who lived with his parents at Dunedin. The young mlan took off from the North Taleri aerodrome at 3.45 p.m. on a practice flight. After circling to gain altitude he flew in a westerly direction towards Outram. Ten minutes after leaving the aerodrome, the machine, which was by this time over Wylie’t Crossing, about a mile and a-half in a direct line from the air-
port, wm observed to go into at least three consecutive rolls, from which ‘.he pilot recovered satisfactorly each time. After the fourth roll, however, it did not come back orr to an even iteel and appeared to side-slip, hurtling headlong into a paddock of oats at the rear of the residence of Mr. Stanley Clark, a farmer.
