A message from Neiw London (Texas) lays that a company official, tn evidence at the military inquiry into the school explosion, said, the gas line serving the wrecked school was connected with the company's pipe without the company’s knowledge or permission. He said he first learned of the connection when he w’as asked to shut off the gas af»S.r the explosion. He examined the pipe and found the connection in a shallow ditch, which appeared to. have been dug less than 90 days previously. Mr Regan, president of the school board, stated: “We were not stealing gas. It is absurd to say that we connected with the company’s pipe without permission. We de’alt with the proper authorities, which we will bring out in later testimony.”
