POLITICIANS’ SALARIES.
Bill in British Commons Press Association— Copyright. London, March 22. It te' understood that a Bill is to be Introduced in. the House of Commons on Wednesday providing that the Prime Minister’s salary be increased to £lO.OOO and the salaries of other members of the Cabinet to £5OOO, with retiring pensions l after a specified -term of service. An innovation will be a salary for the Leader of the Opposition of £2OOO. The present salaries of members of Cabinet are: £. Prime Minister 5,000, Lord President of the Council 2,000 Lord Privy Seal .’. 2.000 Chancellor of the Exchequer .. 5,000 Secretary of State for Home Affairs’5.000 Lord High Chancellor .. .. 10.000 Secretary of State for Foreign Affairss,ooo Secretary of State far, India .. 5,000 Secretary of State for the Dominions 5,000 Secretary of State for the
Coloniess,ooo Secretary of State for Air .. .. 5.000 Secretary of State for Scotland 2,000 Minister of Hcqlth ... .. .. 5,000 President of the Board of Trade 5,000 First Lord of the Admiralty .. 4,500 President of the Board of Education2,ooo Minister of Agriculture and • Fisheries2,ooo Minister of Labour2,ooo First Commissioner of Works 2,000 Minister for the Co-ordination of Defet: e 5,000 Minister of Transport 2,000 There are at present two classes of Cabinet Ministers’ pensions of £2OOO and .21200 respectively. None have been paid since April 6, 1924.
