COMFORT IN SCHOOL.

Electric Heating System. In connection with the heating of | the Stratford Priirtary School, a mat- ' ter which has engaged the attention lot the School Committee for some time, Mr J. Morrison, chairman, stated at the monthly meeting last night th: t he had interviewed the electric light committee of the Borough Coi ncil, and found that the members were very sympathetic towards the request, but, unfortunately, they would not consider making any reduetion in the cost of” current. It wus explained that the small amount piid for the power consumed did not itrengithen the committee’s request. Ten guineas was a big sum . to pay, he said, but when the amount of current used was considered, it v’.is viry little. The regulations would not allow of the current being supplied free as had been suggested by him. However, the Council stated that if the committee was prepared to find the material required they would carry out the installation. The estimated cost of the material was about £l2. As there was no alternative j beating system, the work would have j lo be done at once. | The chairman added that the ty-t-I tern was never really satisfactory, but it must be remembered that the | school was very hard to heat on acI count of the nature of its construeI lion. There was a lot of new material I required besides the repairs. Mr R. Watson considered that the l offer ot the Council should be accept- |< d with thanks, and he moved that | the work be proceeded with immediately. | l The motion Was seconded'by Mr A. Ferguson and carried.
