Climbed On Railway Carriage Roof. Press Association—Copyright. Auckland, March 21. Thought to have been hit by an overhead bridge between Karaka anu Pukekohe. Thomas John Pool, agel 22, was killed when travelling on an excursion train returning from the Ngaruavuhia regatta to Auckland on Saturday night. At Mercer he climbed on the roof of one of the carriages, and he was later found dead by his companion on the roof of this car riage. With four other young men, Mr Pool went to the Ngaruawahla regatta for the day. His companions said he climbed to the top of th< third or fourth carriage when file train was at the Mercer station, expressing the inten-’ln ol riding some distance mi Uio rmf to see what ft was like.
