MILK IN SCHOOLS.
Dairy Board’s'Offer Approved Press Association —vjopyrrglit. Wellington, March 18 Approval of the action of the Dairy Board in offering a contribution of £lO,OOO for the free supply of mnk ot school children was expressed by the Dominion dairy conference today. Delegates were of the opinion that there should be no further contribution by the board and that in view of the fact that there was to be i national scheme the expense should be borne by the Consolidated Fund. The chairman of the Dairy Hoard, Mr. A. J. Murdoch, said that until recently the board had been caTled upon for money tor the scheme. In the original form it was represented the scheme would cost £107,000, and -he board v.'as prepared to contribute about 10 per cent. The scheme now proposed was to cost more than £200,000 and the board had been asked to contribute 10 per cent of that All the board was prepared to do was to meet the commitment of the previous board and contribute £lO.OOO I’he following remit was carried: “That this meeting approves of the Dairy Board’s action ’:i oft ering £lO - 0/0 for Ji? free f.uo.> v of milk to school ch .urea, thou :Le amount i b ■ limited to one year only.’’
