RUGBY FOOTBALL

UNITED CLUB.

Three Teams To Be Nominated.

After some consideration the United Old Boys’ Rugby Football Club decided at th'6 annual meetiing held last night to nominate three teams for competition play. It was thought that with the Saturday half-holiday there was a prospect of fielding a good third grade team.) The patron, Mr 1 ., A. H. R. Amcss, presided over a good attendance of members. The teams had done well on the playing field but the financial position was not altogether satisfactory, said Mr. Amess, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet. Last year travelling expenses amounted to £24 2s 9d and subscriptions were £22 3s. It was not a fair Ihing to ask a new committee to carry on under such conditions. Mr. H. B. Goodman said that the junior competition had collapsed and afterwards it/ wUs very diflicujVt to collect subscriptions. However, with a proper arrangement sulbscriptF.ons could be collected. Something sEbuid be done to sign up honorary members.
