Protection for Babies.
New-born babies in a Memphis, Tenn, hospital will be bundled in transparent tissue to protect them from fondlert* on their trips outside the nursery. Dr George Sheats, hospital superintendent, invented a gadget fitted with cellulose tissue to roll eight infants from the nursery to their mothers. “So many people wanted to fondle he babies that we had to protect them,” Dr She'a-tt* said. “We were afraid glass might break and cut them.” The device has separate compartments for eight babies. A fine mesh wire on the sides admits plenty of fresh air.
