PROSPECTS EXCELLENT Good Response By Owners For Saturday. ■‘The prospects for the Club's meeting at Tie Kapua Park on Saturday are very good,’’ said the president, Mr D. J. Malone, to a “Central Press’’ representative this morning. There was an excellent response from owners, and the raieng should provide a keen competition and provide’ an enjoyable gathering, be continued. Not a great, many horses from outside Taranaki stable?, wlill be present, owing no doubt to the near approach of Easter and also recent meetings at Wellington and elsewhere, hut the class of competitors is good and patrons should see some interesting racing. The fine -Weather of late has meant that the track is in exceptionally good order. As usual, the committee has paid special attention to the. appointments for the meeting, and the public will flfind that everything is in first-class order. Dustin’s Ltd. will have charge of the catering, and the publican’s booth will be run by Mr A. Liile.
The fixture is the first conducted by the club under a permanent permit from the Racing Conference. The two meetings previously helu at this season of the year were run on temporary permits, and both proved very successful. To mark the occasion o! permanent autumn racing, the club has provided an attractive programme, the sum of £l2OO being given in stakes compared to £BOO on fhe ather two meetings. Some of the Runners. The first race, ,which starts at noon, will be the Autumn Hurdles, tor which a. good contest is promised. Ruaform did not accept, but there are some class horses in Silk Sox, Forest Glov, King Pluto and Don Erma. The Trials field has filled well, and among? t them are Arahura, CTlenthawn. River Feale. Eagle's Eye anti Naughty Marietta. Lady Kyra, Plato (locally owned), Refresher and Friesland (if started), xnd others, should make the open sprint very interesting. St. Patrick's Handicap has drawn a strong field, with Friesland Tai torn, onewhetu. Royal Secret, Aussie Ra and International, all claiming consideration. The first race for the A. W. Bifelge Memorial Stakes should, be another keen contest, in which the winner may come from Reipar, Bonny Glow. Reid Sand, Sanhedrin, Airing, Coibwa, Ned Cuttle and Taillight. Wildflower, on recent form, should have a say in the decision of the Juvenile Handicap, though Winsome Lu, Gaily, Seaham and Lickhem, are sure to run well. The Highweight Handicap includes Onewhetu, Plato, Refresher, Mustang. Bantry and International, ensuring in stirring contest.
Aether strong field is carded for the Farewell Hack Handicap, and. the public will fin! a problem, to solv? in the meeting of Airing, .'aptain t'udor, Earn, T? Ir.mey. Fijlng Chip’' and Kentucky Song.
