ATE THE CANARY.
Diner’s Order to Restaurant Waiter.
A brawny workman from t'ie o n fields, walked into a Glaswater, Texas' restaurant, glared at the waiter and demanded a plate of fried chicken. "Sorry," said the waiter, "but we have no chicken left.” Eyeing a bird cage hanging in the window, the prospective diner asked: “How much for that canary?" “Twenty-five dol IaTS.” (£5). “Sold," said the customer. “Cook the canary and put in plenty of gravy.” He picked tha bird clean and stalked out.
