Premier in Rotorua District. Press Association—Copyright. Rotorua, March 15. The Prirpe Minister, Mr M. J. Savage, to-day concluded a thrre-day visit to the Rotorua district, during which he was engaged principally in dealing, with native affairs. Most of to-day was spent at Makitu, on The Bay of Plenty Coast, where the Minister was accorded a rousing Maori welcome on the site of the original landing of the Arawa canoe.

Mr Savage was joined by the Minister of Lands, Hon. F. Langstone, who has been tonrig the Bay of Plenty district. Mr Lnngstone afterwards went to Whakatane and Opotiki, and Mr Savage returned to Rotorua, The Prime Minister left by car tomight for i Frankton, y.’here he joined the Limited express for Palmerston North and Wellington, During the course of the Maketu .reI reption Mr Savage said he was most ! impres sed by the work done in land I development on native schemes, and 1 assured the Maoris that the Govern- | ment would do everything in .its ppw|er to promote the welfare of the race, I ft was particularly anxious to im. | prove their housing conditions and-to I raise the standard of living generally.
