Bout Staged at Invercargill. Press Association—-Copyright. Invercargill, March 15. A professional heavyweight boxing contest to-night between Ambrose Palmer, 12st 91b (Australia), and Roy de. Gam., 12-st. 101 b (America), was won by Palmer after five rounds, De Gans retiring with a bad cut over the right eye. Palmer was declared the winner on a technical knock-out. The five rounds were marked by fast and furious boxing, in which De Gans suffered enough punishment for any man to throw in Jjte towel. Palmer was in great form, excelling at close v.m-k, and hit display was relished by the crowd.
