The conference pledged its support tor the establishment of a national school of horticulture at Christchurch and decided to urge the Government to consider the incid nee of local body taxation as affecting botanic gardens, parks and recreation areas owned by local bodies and used for t lie P "poses. with-a view to air lev luting the burden of such taxation. It was decided to direct the GoVernn ent’s attention to increasing des predations by deer, cattle and other aniinals on lsland and to the urgency of more active measur s of extermination. Mr F. S. Pope was elected the new president.
