CAPTAIN’S RECORD
Allen Has Outstanding Feat.
Whin Don Bradman made his 212 at Adelaide in the fourth Test he batted on three -separate days, and thus has accomplished the feat for the third time in Tests against England. A. C. Bannerman, W. >R. Hammond, W. Rhodes, C. B. Fry, C. E. Kelleway and G. Duckworth are others who have batted three days in a Test match. But G. O .Allen, the English skipper, can put a good one over them (slays a southern exchange), as in a country match last season he batted three days without being dismissed, and did not even reach double figures. It was in the game between Nottingham and Middlesex at Trent Bridge, played on July 4, 5 and 7. Notts had scored 204, while Middlesex had six wickets down at stumps, Allen 'being one of the not out men. Only a few overs could be box'.'led on the second d'ay on account of rain and Alien had to resume again on the 1 third morning, when Middlesex were dismissed for 117. Alien being 6 not out. Voce and Larwood won the game for Notts, the 'big lefthander being top scorer with 52 not out, while Larwood made 37, and the pair added 81 together. Allen took six for 58 in the first innings.
