TOWN LIKE BATTLEFIELD EVERY BUILDING RAZED. Government Grants £200,000 Press Association —Copyright. Darwin, March 11. Almost the whole of Darwin was severely damaged by a terrific cyclone last night. A preliminary estimate sets the damage at £lOO,OOO, with one death.

The wind reached a velocity of 100 miles an hour, razing half the town’s weatherboard buildings and unroofing others. The acting-Administrator of the Northern Territory, Mr H. A. Giles, has telegraphed Canberra that Government House, Government offices, the Customs house and the public school have been badly damaged. Residents of Darwin had a night of terror.
