LADIES’ GOLF
i PROGRESSIVE CLUB. Waiting List To Be Instituted. The Stratford Ladies’ Golf Club at the annual meeting last night discussed the question of the increasing membership and a waiting Ikst ls to be instituted. Mrs R. Fryday. captain, presided over a large attendance of members. | Eight committee meetings held during the 'year were well -'attended, stated the annual report - Several new members had been elected and a suggestion had been made that the membership be closed. Afternoon teas wore not too successful during the -11936 season, although £4/7/3 vvs collected against £.3/13/6 for the previous year. 'Thirteen members made reductions -in handicap and I four were successful in entering the silver division. Six inter-club matches were played, others -being abandoned owing to weather conditions. The Taplin Cup was won from j Eltham -and was still retained by { Stratford. During the season Mesj dames J. Boon, W. Boon, N. Green, IC. Williams, W. Bo'V.'ler, D. Morris, jA. McDonald, L. Burmester, and
i Misses -Walker, Coleman and King I were farewelled by members. The i club appreciated the generosity -of I the following members who "Xindly ■'donated trophies: Mesdames C. WilI liams, Knewstuibb, W. Williams, F. I Nolan, W. Liddell, E. Evans, R. FryI day, D. Morris, G. Carter, J. Boon. !H. Bishap, McDonald, L. Burmester. j and Misses V. and B. Sangster and J i Henry. Congratulations were extended in the i" port to Miss V. Sangster. Miss J. Henry and Mrs White, whinners of the senior, intermediate, and junior championships. Officers were el cted as follows: Club captain, Mrs R. Fryday; vicecaptain, Mrs Bishop; secretary, Mrs W. Power; committee, Mesdames W. Williams, Betts, Knewstubb, Pegg and Pope. It was decided on the motion of Mrs Heslop that the membership list ' be closed at 70 and- that a waiting i list be open. d. j The 'meeting -resolved that after- ! noon teas be carried on as usual and Mesdames Strachan, Simons. Evans a.nd Bodie 'v. 1 re appointed a tea committee. A subscription of 4/- for matches I will be collected as usual. I The -opening day was fixed for ] March 18, when Canadian foursomes I over 11 holes will be played, playeYs : to choose their own partners. The draw for matches will be published each v.'eek iu the Press. Votfs of thanks were accorded the outgoing committee and the Press.
