WELLINGTON FIELDS

Review of Horses in Form, by “Odds-On.”

Splendid fields (if acceptors (’raw added attention to the Wellington Racing Club’s autumn meeting, which opens on Thursday when the win and place system of wagering will be in operation. A review of tile fields engaged is supplied by "Odds On." .12.12

RIMU HIGHWEIGHT, of £3OO. One mile and a-quarter.—Red Sun 11.4, Beau Gallante 10.12, Sp; nder 9.8, Revival 9.7, Brigadore 9.2, Laggard, Bumble, Lady Wessex, Wananga 9.0. The Rimu Highweighit produces Red Suu as topweight, an aged horse v.ho returns to racing and is declared fit. Beau Gallante was a defector at Bulls but may be dangerous here. Revival and Wananga on 9.7 make strong appeal whilst Lady Wessex, Brigadore and Spender appeal in that order over the remainder. Those securing places may be REVIVAL. WANANGA. RED SUN. * * -Si12.52

TRIAL PLATE, of £i3oo. All 8.5. Seven furlongs.—Galteemore, Gay Artist, Good Sun, Haupangi, Myrin.m. N:lumbo, Peacock, Reipa, Waiata, Southern Blood, Sunib.am, Waitohu. The Trial Plate run over sevt n furlongs at set weights it the type of race where any horse may win. A recent third placing by Myriari draws attention. Waitohu was expected to become a useful performer and is now' reported fit after racing amongst much better class, than this. Nelumbo won ,a live furling handsomely and may last the extra distance whilst Southern Blood, Rapa Waiata, Good Sun and Sunbeam may have admirers. It is time Galteemore began to repay his cost. Those filling placet may be MYRIAM. WAITOHU. GALTEEMORE. * * *

1.35 NEW ZEALAND ST. LEG ER STAKES, of £4OO. Three-year-olds. One and three-quarter miles. —Cerne Abbas, Mandamus, Martara, Siegmund, Chief Ruler-Seagull colt. Wild Chase.

The St. Lcger Stakes, run over IS miles will see a small field from which Martara and Wild Chase appear to sftand out and they should provide a duel. .Mandamus hardlv reaches their clast but may yet do so. Cerne. Abbas appears under the same category. One cannot go past MARTARA. WILD CHASE. 2 17— PACIFIC HANDICAP, of £5OO. Six furlongs.—Haughty Winner, Royal Chief 9.4, Smoke Screen 8.11, Top Row 8.5, Relative, The Coroner 8.4, Lazybones 8.0, Only One 7.10, Screamer 7.9, Accomplice, Mother-in-law, Mulatto 7.7.

The Pacific Handicap for 2-year-olds, run over six furlongs contains a field productive of a headache. With all his weight Haughty Winner may be public choice but Royal Chief as assessed lias equal prospects. The Crooner with 141 b less catches my etye—postibly the judge's. Mulatto on the minimum is an improver with prospects of a place. Smoke Screen, Top Row 1 , Relative and Lazybones appeal over the remainder who are practically all quite good performers. A great race may result THE CROONER. HAUGHTY WINNER. ROYAL CHIEF. * * * 2.58 THOMSON HANDICAP, of £750. One mile.—Silver Ring 10.6, Paper Slipper 8.11, Friesland 8.6, Low-.n-berg, Travenna 8.4, Plato 8.3, Big Dook, Chief Ranger 8.1, Epris 7.13, Arctic King 7.11, Haut Monde 7.10, Debham 7.9, Rona Bay 7.8, Alby, Brazen King, Darecourt, Entail, Sir Nigel 7.7.

The Thompson Handicap, run over one mile should produce the largest field and contains' many good performers. Tlhe trainer of Silver Ring is reported under no delusions about his charge and believes the toipw eight anay not be quite ready. Paper Slipper has a full load for a tbree-year-olrl amongst this clast. Friesland may be the public fancy and cerlOainly reads likely. LowenBerg would need considerable improvement on recent performances but is not negligible. Travenna is about ready and may be dangerous. Plato, Biig Dook and Eiprit hardly claim a place. Chief Ranger may be one to trouble thdm whilst Alby which one can win six furlongs open and now tackles his pet distance, appears a splendid place prospect. Arctic King maly like the going promised and should be close up,

whereas Haute Monde may not fav- j our the conditions promising. Deb- I hapi comes from a run of success ‘ which indicate an improved miler ! worthy of attention. Rona Bay, | Brazen King and Sir Nigel will have i supporters, but Darecourt and Entail > hardly appeal. Possible placegettc.-i | may be FRIESLAND. ALBY. j CHIEF RANGER. * * * 3.40 TINAKORI HANDICAP, of £3OO. : Seven furlongs.—-Gay Hunter 92, j Terry 8.9, Earl Colossus, Sank drin ; 8 4, The Bigot, OM Surrey 8.3. Impos- j tui-e 7.13, Collodion 7.11, Allunga 7.9, I Raepat.i, Sunny Blonde 7.7. The Tinakori Hack Handicap, run i over seven furlongs sees Gay Hunter : giving weight ito some good hacks. ; Terry has dropped nicely after Bulls, j whilst Sanhedrin, The Bigot and Old Surrey should fully extend Gay Hunter. Imposture may now continue on after breaking her 12 months of failures. Collodion decided to win a. foui’ horse race at Bulls but may find this different quality. Alunga performs well at Trt ntham and nv>y produce a surprise, whilst the honest Earl Colossus showed his bet at Haw-era. If produced here Sanhedrin claims No. 1, otherwise TERRY. THE BIGOT. ' ALUNGA. * * *

4.21 RAILWAY HANDICAP, of £450. Six furlongs.—Gold Boa 95, Dungarvan 9.3, Emissary 8.8, Laughing Lass 8.7, Knockfln 8.5, Karl 8 2, Acceptable, j Deficit, Flammarion 7.7. The Railway Handicap, the ’’big” I six furlong event finds Gold Boa with i 9.5. She has started only once since ' her double win at Trentham and was ‘ asked to carry 9.7 in a mile when she j led for five furlongs. Having beaten j nigger and possibly better fieMs than I this on?, she has. 1 yet to be h'eadert. j Emissary appears an early choice and I has been satisfying track watchers j and with Knockfin may be Well suip- 1 ported. Dungarveai may be able to j concede thcf?e weights tlo speedy ones i lower down. Laughing Lass should secure a place whilst anly one of the tour on the minimum is capable of causing a “boil over." Saluting the judge may be GOLD BOA. LAUGHING LASS. EMISSARY. * * * SILVERSTREAM HANDICAP, of £3OO. One mile. —Roaming 9.0, Lucullus Lad 8.9, Catalogue 8.8, Stratosphere 8.5, Lady Siegfried 8.4, Sanhedrin 8.2, Rousseau 8.0, Reipar 7.10, Sea Wrack 7.9, Hunting Step 7.7, The Silverstream Hack Handicap, run over one mile may find Roaming sorted out a winner but Lady Siegfried, Catalogue and Reipar may be ones to extend the topweight. LuculluE' Lad, Stratosphere and Sanhedrin ma'y not lack support 'whilst Rosseau and Sea Wrack are not without chances. Reipar ainpears about ready to upset the favourites. Appeal is made by LADY SIEGFRIED. CATALOGUE. REIPAR.
