COMMERCE MATTERS
N.Z. President Visits Local Chamber. At 1 p.m. 'ta-da’y a luncheon was tendered Mr M. G. C. McCaul., president of the Associated Chambers of Comimerce, by >the Stratford Chamber. With Mr McCaul was Mr A. O. Heeney, secretary of the Associated Chambers and the guests at the luncheon included Mr W. J. Polson, M.P., the deputy-Ma’yor, Dr. W. P. P. Gordon, and the chaiiman of the Stratford County Council, Mr T. R. Anderson. Mr F. T Hale, of the Stratford Chamber presided. Following the luncheon Mr McCaul addressed a meeting in the Borough Chambers, which members of the business community and a number of farmers attended. The meeting was not open tcythe Press, as it concer V'i ; domestic matters of the chamber, but I Mr McCaul was able to clear up many ! matters directly concerning the welfare of the local organisation. When interviewed on arrival this morning, Mr McCaul told the ,TCenbral Press” that he was not in any way desirous of making proipaganda for his organisation out of this tour It 'vJas merely an opportunity he was taking of visiting chambers in th° North Island with a view to gaining Home knowledge of the viewipoints of i business men in the various disiiicts | and to learn something of their pro-b- -■ lems.
