GREATEST SECRECY

The Daily Mail’s correspondent a.t Paris says that the greatest secrecy surrounded the departure of Mrs Ernest Simpson from Cannes. She was clad in a black tailored costume and a black three-cornered hat and slipped out a side entrance of the Villa Louviel at 7 a.m., in drizzling rain. She was accompanied by Mr and Mrs Herman Rogers, her American host and hostess, and a detective specially sent from London. She travelled in a car jvith a changed number-plate, followed by a tecond -car containing French dttec- • fives. She is spending the night at a hotel in a little village near Avignon, the identity of which has ncit been revealed, and Will go on in the morning to the beautiful Renaissance Chateau Cande, 20 miles from Tours The chateau stands in 1500 acres of gardens and grounds and is owned by the American, Mr Charles Rogers. “Mr and Mrs Bedaux have been our frinds for many years/’ said Mr Rogers. “They asked Mrs Simpson and ourselves to be their guests for as long as we like.” The Daily Mail understands that Mrs Simpton has changed her resi - dence because she wishes to be within easy reach of Paris to enable- frequent journeys in connection with her trousseau.
