SUCCESSFUL SEASON.
Stratford Club’s 47th Annual Meeting.
Satisfaction at the successful season experienced, was expressed by speakers at the fortyseventh annual general meeting of members of the Straxford Rugby Football Club held last night. In congratulating the club, the president, Hon. R. Masters, M.L. C<, said he was very pleased to be able to take again a closer interest in the affairs of his old club. There was a good attendance of members.
Mr Masters expressed pleasure at the opportunity of once again presiding at a meeting of the Stratford Club. He thanked the members for appointing him year after year to the position of president although lie had been, absent for the past six year:. Now that he was back again he would be pleased to renew associations with his old club. He congratulated the club and members on their fine record and hoped that their success would be repeated during the coming season. The finances, he said, were not as satisfactory as in former years but he hoped that, this year there xould be a substantial improvement. He was very hopeful that with a universal half-holiday, combined wo - »’■ ; visit of the Springboks, there would be a considerable advance in football in the province during the season. He congratulated the club's officials 0.. their Work and thanked the referees tor their assistance. He had much pleasure in moving the adaption of the report and balance-sheet. More Congratulations. Pleasure that his old friend, MiMasters, was presiding was voiced by Mr C. Massey, chairman of the management committee, in seconding the motion. . He expressed his gratification at the senior team’s success in winning the Alt. West Memorial Shield. Mr C. Henderson was' elected an honorary -member of the club. it was decided that the rules be amended to provide for the coaches of the four teams to be members lof the management committee ex officio. Election of Officers, Officers were elected as follows: President, Hon. R. Masters, M.LC.; vice-presidents, Messrs D. J. Malone, F. Bowler, R. Wood, L. J. Furrle, R- F. Harkness; secretary, Mr F. E Clarke; club captain, Mr W. .1. Ailken; hon. treasurer, Mr E. 11. Young: coaches, Messrs J. Young (senior), W. Rae (Juniors), A. Robson (thirds). Management committee, Messrs F. J. Nolan, C. Massey, J. D.. Mackay, P. T. Speechlay, L. J. Rowell, A. G. Petrie; auditor, Mr T. L. Penn; huh. suiigcons’, Drs. D. Steven, W. P. P. Gordon, and W. Brown; delegates' to Taranaki Rugby Union annual meeting, the president and Messrs Nolan and Massey; selectors, Messrs J. D. Mackay and R. Wood (seniors), W. Rae (juniors), A. Robson (thirds).
