JOURNALISTS’ AWARD.
Forty-hour Week Introduced. Press Association—Copyright. Wellington. To-day. A new Dominion metropolitan journalists’ award will come into operation to-day. The principal new provisions are for a 40-hour v'aek, an alteration in the grading system and the proportions of graded woxfleers and alterations in the method of computing and rewarding overtime. The term of the award is 12 months. The employers’, representative on the court, Mr W. Cecil Prime, has recorded his dissent from the decision in favour of a 40-hour week, his opinion being that a longer week; should be allowed,
