RANGITIKEI RACES

SATURDAY’S MEETING

Review of Horses in Form

By “Odds On.”

The Rangitikei Racing Club holds its annual meeting at Bulls on Saturday, when ithe single pool s-psitem o£ wagering will be in operation. The following suggestions are offered by “Odds On.”

TRIAL. PLATE, of £z~. Six furlongs.—Aurora’s Love, Blue Mauritius, Even Money, Gay Ruby, ■ Gold Nymph, Golden Enterprise, Lacan, Lady Zona, Malibu, Race Call, Ruenzori, Sailors’ Delight. Scooter, Orient Dawn,

In the Trial Plate, Race Call with

so many planings to his credit should be in strong demand. Aurora’s Love has recently earned recognition and may even be first in demand but a surprise may come from Ruenzori. Others to command support may be Golden Enterprise, Blue Mauritius and Gold Nymph. Placed horses may be

RACE CALL. RUENZORI. AURORA’S LOVE

HANDICAP HURDLE RACE, of £l2O. One mile and a-half.—Otaura King 10.3, Bazaine 10.0, Invlctus 9.13, Forest Glow 9.12, Parnos 9.3, Tribesman, Trevelyn Hold 9.0.

For the Handicap Hurdle race, Bazaine, after winning at Opunake, may fence more cleanly and should develop well over hurdles. Otaura King has a handy weight and should gain a place. Invictus has not raced for six months but is good when ready. Forest Glow fell on the flat at Hawera but haJ been in long enough to be a danger here. Padnos, a recent winner on the flat, is a good fencer with an outsid: r’s chance. The places may be filled by

BAZAINE. OTAURA KING. FOREST GLOW.

OHAKEA HACK HANDICAP, of £lOO. Six furlongs.—Flammariou 9.7, Collodion and Catalogue 8.5, Tail Light 8.3, The Bigot 8.2. Golden Chest 7-.8, All Spirit 7.7.

The Ohakea Hack Handicap asks Flammarion to give 161 b and upwards and he may be beaten by the weights. Catalogue it a good sort whose recent second draws attention here. Collodion is not a boy’s horse and consequently seldom exhibits his beet. The Bigot, although bespoken for a distance, has this one entry and must be given a chance. Golden Chest, All Spirit ami Tail Light are likely ones. Place getters may be

CATALOGUE. FLAMMARION THE BIGOT.

RANGITIKEI CUP, of £2OO. One mile and a-quarter.—Martara 9.5, Grand Jury 8.8, Plato 8.5, Lapel 7.11, Round Score 7.10, Beau Gallante 7.8, Mustang, Ingenuity and Waipiro 7.7.

The Rangitikei Cup comprises a handy field with Martara asked to concede much weight to good horses and again as good as he is, the weight may anchor him. Grand Jury with recent good form will carry strong support. Plato appears to have “slipped” but if he struck form here would be a winner. Lapel and Round Score both have fair recent form and on the weights strongly appeal. Beau Gallante can win highweights and hurdles as he likes, and must, therefore, be respected. Mustang has no recent form to warrant support, but a reversal appears on the horizon. Ingenuity and Waipiro are both dangerous here, but those saluting the judge may be . LAPEL. MARTARA. ROUND SCORE. * * * GREATFORD HACK HANDICAP, of £lOO. One mile and a distance.— Terry 9.0, Corowa 8.7, Sanhedrin 8.5, Otakl 8.1, Corroboree 7.13, War Lap 7.10, Te Broney, Reipar, Missal, Race Call and Koura Rua 7.7. The Greatford Hack Handicap has that proven horse Terry at the head and he will take some beating. Corowa and Sanhedrin claim two engagements, but if started here are Worthy of respect. Corroboree io due for one and In about eight starters should not get swamped. Otaki and War Lap are moderates with proportionate chances'. Reipar is now ready and strongly attracts. Te Broney, prior to my selection to win its maiden at Wanganui, appeared to be little known. Produced once at New Plymouth but not at Hawera, she won easily from some good hack sprinters at Opunake. She has good placinga

up to li mileSi, on one occasion beating Floodtide, Karohia, Valspear and others. Consequently, armchair critics of racing scribes must expect Te Broney to be given a chance when prpduced. This time, appeal comes from

REIPAR. CORROBOREE. TERRY.

BAILEY HANDICAP, of £l5O. Six furlongs.—Laughing Lass and Martara 9.6, Chief Ranger 8.12, Alby 8.5, Entail 8.4. Jubilee Song 7.12, Land Tax 7.11, The Tiger, Lady Ina, Hunting Lodge, and Pin Money 7.9, Bodyline 7.7.

The Dailey Handicap sees a fine field of sprinters with Laughing Lass just about anchored. Martara likewise who may take on the Cup. Chief Ranger appears very likely and Alby and Land Tax form horses with good prospects. Jubilee Song, Ths Tiger, Lady Ina and Hunting Lodge all possess chancgs, whilst Entail may be benefited by recent sandhill work and must soon return a handsome price. The choice goes to

CHIEF RANGER. LAND TAX. ALBY.

FAREWELL HACK HANDICAP, of £lOO.- Seven furlongs.— Manawatu and Corowa 8.8, Kara, Sanhedrin and Old Surrey 8.6, Cloudy Bay and Te Broney 7.11, Chat 7.10, Reipar 7.8, All Spirit, Golden Enterprise, Blue Mauritius and Waitohu 7.7.

The Farewell Hack is- another good field of evenly weighted ones. ManaVatu has to be taken on trust but Sanhedrin, if reserved, calls for support, and with Cloudy Bay and Old Surrey may fill the places. Corowa, Reipar and Te Broney have previous engagements but it reserved should not be neglected. Patrons at the race, to think over Chat or Waitohu. course may be inclined, in the last Some in demand may be CLOUDY BAY. SANHEDRIN. OLD SURREY. i
