RETURN OF COLONIES

Why Will She Not Confer On

Raw Materials?

Press Association —Copyright. London, March 2.

“It is unpleasantly Tike an undated ultimatum,” said Mr. L. C. Amery in a speech at Manchester to-night when referring to Herr von Ribbentlrop’s statement that a remedy for World wide unrest could be found either by returning Germany’s colonies or by Germany’s l own strength. “It seemed to call for an immediate answer from the German ambassador who cannot make speeches like that and expect immunity from criticism.” Germany bad complained of her difficulties about raw materials but now had declined to attend meetings of the committee at Geneva which war to investigate the whole question of access to raw maeriala, said Sir Aus ten Chamberlain, in the House of Commons. Recommendations of the League raw materials committee include firstly the transformation of colonies into mandated territories or their administration by an international authority, secondly the adoption of the open door principle in all colonies, thirdly the abolition of International agreement under which all countries would be equally treated in all markets, or at least in all colonial markets, states a Geneva message.
