MAGNIFICENT TROPHY.
Honouring Memory of Late Mr. A. W. Budge.
To honour the memory of one who for many years was prominently astociated v.'ith the Stratford Racing Club the A. W. Budge Memorial Hack Handicap trophy has been included in the programme of events to be run at the Club’s meeting on March 20. A magnificent trophy valued at £2O in the form of an eight-day Westminster chiming clock, standing over 6 feet in height and cased in matched walnut, has been purchased by the club. The race will be run over a distance of nine furlongs and the winner will receive £llO in cash in addition to the trophy. In securing a clock The Club had made a departure from the ordinary form of trophy such as a cup, plate, or cutlery, and It is considered that this new form of trophy will appfhl to owners. At present the clock, together with a photograph of the late Mr ,A. W. Budge, and views of race scenes at Stratford meetings, are displayed In a Broadway mercer's Window.
