At the V.R.C. races at Flemington, Cuddle made a great effort to lead always in the Essendon Stakes, but was : beaten in the last stride by the fast finishing Gold Rod. Gay Blonde, who v'as last early, was a good third. Gold Rod has now fron £10,315 in stake money. Trainer Price won previously with Veilmond.
