£7-a-Day Club in Liner
FLOATING HOTEL FOR CORONATION GUESTS Showboat life at £5O a week is planned for 500 wealthy overseas guests during the Coronation festivities. In a liner moored off Tilbury these fortunate people are to hatfe a really good time. The plan originated in the mind of Mr S. C. Shaha, a young Indian merchant, who is getting financial backing from a wealthy group of his fellow countrymen in London. Mr Shaha told the Daily Sketch about it. “We propose to charter a liner that will afford accommodation for at least 500 Indian and overseas visitors,” he said. “We believe that the luxury hotels of London will not be able to accommodate all the people who will come to Britain with money which they are anxious to spend on having a real good time. “The charge of £5O per week will include luxury accommodation, firstclass meals (with one free bottle of champagne per day for each guest), free transport in cars between Tilbury and London, and every kind of amusement. “There will be dancing to a negro band; cabaret and theatre shows; a news cinema; and the boat will be equipped with a swimming pool.**
