JOCKEY’S CLAIM.
For Training Expenses and Share of Stakes. Press Association—Copyright. Wellington, Last Night. A compromise was reached on a claim for £299 for training expenses and a 10 per cent, share of stakes brought by Wiliam Henry Jones, a jockey, against Osmond Disley, merchant, in respect of the racing mare Rona Bay, to-day. Dislay had claimed a substantial set-off in respect of moneys stated to have been paid to Jones.
The basis of the plaintiff’s claim was that Disley, who was his uncle, leased the racing mare from its owner and agreed to pay him £2/10/- a week, plus 10 per cent, of the winnings for training her between May I 1. 1934, and September 30, 1936, during which period the mare, under the charge of plaintiff, won between £llOO and £l2OO. The plaintiff admitted in evidence that subsequent to this period h© was suspended for two months and was unable to ride >ho horse.
