AND SPELTER DEFENCE PURPOSES No Shortage Yet Experienced In Britain. (British Official Wireless.) Received 12.30 p.m. Rugby, February 24. Sir Thomas Inskip, Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence, when replying in the House of Commons to a question as to whether any action was being taken to ensure that the three Defence Departments, Navy, Army, and Air Force, had the necessary supplies of such metals as lead and spelter, and whether it was proposed to take any action to prevent speculators from holding up supplies, said that the Defence Departments had had no difficulty in obtaining whatever supplies of these metals that they required. The second part of the question, therefore, did not arise.
