Gate-crashing of 1937.
Hostesses in London are faced with a new gate-crashing problem, according to an English paper. This, season’s gate-crashing at parties is being done beforehand on the 'phone. Women whose daughters have been invited to a debutantes’ dance ring up, asking in assumed surprise of some mistake has been made as tickets have not yet arrived for the rest ot the family. Sometimes this method achieves the desired effect.. The hostess or her secretary finds difficulty in explaining tactfully that the dance is being limited as much as possible to the younger generation.
