MISSED THE TRAIN.

RACEHORSE JIBS. Taitoru Left Behind at Stratford. For nearly an hour last night the Auckland express was delayed at the Stratford station, when the racehorse Taitoru refused to enter a horse-box. Eventually the train left without the horse, which, however, was sent this morning on a goods train at 5.3 Q. The horse was a bit fractious this morning, kicking up its heels; but it was loaded without much difficulty. Taitoru is entered for the Herries Memorial Race at Te Aroha on Saturday and will probably be well supported by Taranaki bettors. Two South Taranaki horsemen, Supreme Court and Flying Chief, arrived at Stratford on the Wellington express last night, and the Auckland train brought Glenthawn. and Taitoru. Both four-horse boxes were shunted to the

landing bank and a start, was made to tranship Taitoru and Glenthawn. However, the Egmont Cup winner refused to enter the box, despite the efforts of the owner, Mr. E. G. Bayliss, Opunake, and railway officials. In the wind they persevered without avail. The officials decided that the train could not be delayed any longer, and it left at 9.25 without the horse. Taitoru was taken to nearby stables, where he was bedded and fed for the night.
