Social and Personal Mrs Looney who has been staying with her sister Mrs* W. Curd, Regan Street, ieft for New Plymouth on Monday. * * * Mrs E. W. McCluggage, Hamlet Street, returned this week from an enjoyable visit to Palmerston North and Napier. * * * I Mrs Chas. Penn, Portia. Street, was “at home” on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs G. Hall, Mountain Road, was at home on Wednesday evening. Mrs L. J. Furrie entertained the members and friends of the Portland Auction Bridge Club. She received her guest in a smart brown floral marocain. She had beautiful dahlias, scabias, svteet peas and hydrangeas in large vases in her hall and drawing room. Those present were, Mesdamet' G. Hall L. Jardine, J Cresswell W. J. Spence, A. Coleman, F. P. D. Jeffries, F. Uniacke; the Misses L. Penn, A. Jardine and R. Furrie. Miss Furrie was wearing a very becoming floral -ultramaine blue marocain.

Mrs L. Smith was a bridge hostess on Wednesday night. She received her guests in a smart frock of marina blue floral silk crepe. Those present were, Mesdaines A. W. Budge, S. Macalister, G. Hall, E. S. Rutherfurd, F. Uniacke, S. Pitt and Hunt. The drawing roow looked gay with vases of single dahlias and scabias.
