MAGISTRATE TIRED OF ‘ ‘ GRANDMOTHERLINESS ’ ’
If parents won’t lireh their naughty boys then the punishment ought to be inflicted by other people. This is the opinion of Alderman "W. E. Lovsey, Birmingham magistrate, given recently. He regretted he had not power to order corporal punishment, and told the four lads before him in court that .they needed it. “I know what the birch is like,” the Aiderman said. “I had it in my younger days. “Juvenile crime is increasing and the present form of punishment is not sufficient. “I am getting sick of ’Sall that grandmotherly business. The whole thing is disgusting. You show no signs of regret. ’ ’
