ENGLISH SCHEME

STATE ACTION.

Effort For Re-organisation Of Industry.

Press Association —Copyright. Rugby, February 22

The Minister of Agriculture announced in the House of Commons today that the Government proposed to introduce legislation to enable a scheme for production and marketing in connection -with the fish industry to be brought forward. The scheme would be only the first step towards an effort at reorganisation of the whole industry, and the proposed legislation Would therefore provide for the establishment of a commission “to assist the organisation of distributors to consider and recommend to the Ministers schemes for the improvement of distribution and to supervise the operation of such schemes, as well as of the producers’ scheme, and generally to promote cooperation among all sections of the industry.” The Government’s proposals would be based on the reports of the Sea Fish Commission.
