AERODROME DEVELOPMENT.

STRATFORD CLUB PLANS. Importance of Securing License. “It is is imperative that all the work we do on the Stratford Aerodrome should, from the outset, be in accordance with a complete plan,” said Mr. Percy Thomson, president of the Stratford Aero Club, at a meeting of the executive last night. Flying-Officer lan Keith, New Plymouth, who was present, said that the best course for the club to adopt was to consult the Public Works. The lay-out of building area, approaches 'and drainage should all be planned j before any work was done. When hangars were built it was important to secure proper plans which would ensure their being of maximum use for the housing of ’planes. Mr. D. White suggested that the first building that was needed on the ground was something in the nature of a club-house. Even if this were of very modest structure, it would be a start and somewhere for members to gather as a club. The importance of getting the aerodrome licensed as soon as possible, so that instruction could be carried out at Stratford and the club would have something definite to offer members, was mentioned by several speakers, and it was cnsidered that the time ; had come when the club was justi- , tied in making a drive for membership. It was also decided to take I steps to augment the social commitjtee, which has lost so many members II hat an undue load is being placed :the few remaining. Four new memi bers were elected to the club. I Mr. F. E. Clarke was appointed seci rotary and treasurer in succession to [the late Mr. W. Power. Those present were: Messrs Percy Thomson (chairman), Brian McMib lan, W. L. Kennedy, H. Bishop, 11. L. Curtis. D. White. A. Petrie. L. Wann, I. Keith, and H. Scott.
