“TOLL OF THE ROAD” AND “RUMBA.” Thrilling romance is told in “Toll o£ the Road,” which will lie tcreenefi at the King's Theatre, Stratford, to-night. The story concerns young Frances Drake, who drives her highpowered roadster v.'ith reckless abandon, despite numerous citations for speeding. She falls in love with a police official, Randolph Scott, who undertakes to bring her a new conception of the dangers of careless driving. The tricky, fascinating and seductive rhythm of Cuba’s centuriesold native dances. 1 form the accompaniment and background for ths dramatic love story of George Raft’s new starring Paramount picture, “Rumba," which will be shown on the same programme. Carole Lombard, his partner in “Bolero,” is again costarred, ahd Margo, petite Spanish dancer, is featured. “Rumba” is a poignant love etory of a tempestuous dancer and a madcap heirees. During the unravelling of the plot eight new dance steps, never before filmed, are presented.
